Amanda Mulvey came across the man in the street, said he could stay with her, and began a relationship with him. Dating a heroin addict led to disastrous consequences and a court appearance for a “used and abused” Middlesbrough mum. The good will of Amanda Mulvey came back to bite her when she allowed a man who had been “heavily assaulted” to stay over at her place. A relationship followed, but just two months later she was evicted, charged with theft, and had half her benefits taken from her by her new drug addict partner, Teesside Magistrates’ Court heard.

The year-old appeared before justices to answer a charge of theft on Monday, but her solicitor, Paul McGee, explained the “sad” circumstances that led up to her first ever criminal offence. Mr McGee, mitigating, said the crime happened after she was “used and abused” by her partner. She didn’t realise upon taking him in he was also a heroin addict. A theft charge was then followed by the mum being evicted from her home after a spot check by her housing provider revealed evidence of heroin use and blood on the walls.

The bench agreed and chose to give Mulvey, of Monkland Close, central Middlesbrough , a conditional discharge for a period of six months. Magistrates explained to Mulvey that a conditional discharge means an offender is not sentenced for an offence unless a further crime is committed within the stated period. By Samuel Jones. Went to Gazette for dinner with my boyfriend on a Tuesday evening; booked in the morning and still had tables available for the evening which was great. Unfortunately we turned up late, but table had still been held for us by staff without us phoning – Top marks! We sat down and got to work on our doodles on the table whilst scanning through the menu chalk is provided as you are able to draw on the table which is an interesting gimmick!

Good fun! I had Goats cheese to start, my boyfriend orders mussels; we ordered the Chateaubriand for two as our main course. The waiter was very informative with the wine pairings and gave us each a White Wine to accompany our starters and recommended the Malbec with our main. Overall; service was friendly and usually attentive, food was great and good size portions.

I have the honor of submitting to our Excellency a detailed report, as far as the Government of Jolo is concerned, with regard to what the newspapers of this Capital City have published, refering to the Singapore and Hong Kong newspapers, concerning the acquisition by Baron de Overbeck of part of the possession in Borneo of the Sultan of the Archipelago of Jolo.

Together with this there was sent to me by the Sultan, in a closed envelope, the letter in reply to the letter of Your Excellency regarding this matter, so that might in turn sent it to you. As I had been duly commissioned by Your Excellency last month to represent Your Excellency, jointly with other person, in the proceedings for the signing of the instrument of peace and capitulation to be executed with the Sultan, I thought that it might be advisable for me to know how the matter of Sandakan had been taken up in the closed letter which I had in my possession for Your Excellency, so that I might determine my action accordingly.

In order to give Your Excellency the information referred to by the Sultan at the end of his letter, I must refer back to my conversations with him. Your Excellency was due to arrive at any time with 5, men on a new expedition and would raise the island. The Sultan was greatly surprised by this information which was so different from the information that he had received, and he advised me of the alarm which he felt and that, because thereof, he had promised the Malayans to think it over and reach a decision, and the latter, armed with this promise, returned to the vessels to report on their mission.

During said visit, I noted the insistence with which the Governor of Labuan tried to obtain from me a definite answer as to the boundaries of the territory belonging to the Sultan of Jolo in Borneo, whether the Sandakan Bay was included therein and whether the freedom of trade granted by the last treaty executed in England and in Germany concerning the Archipelago of Jolo covered also the introduction and sale of arms.

My answers concerning the first part only were definite with respect to the Sandakan Bay, and I advised him that it belonged to us de jure as a possession of the Sultan, excusing myself on the ground of lack of information on hand, for not establishing in a definite manner the boundaries of his possession on the Island of Borneo.
